East Asians are the least "smelly" people?

I have always wondered why so many white Australian use cotton swap to clean their wax and have the need for deodorant. Apparently Asians and white people have different genes, that makes the sweat glands in Asians less functional (producing less sweat through the day).

ha-ha ... what about wax glands? apparently, these genes makes them less functional too.

I always heard .......

your diet affects how you smell also. It seems what you eat sure can make your farts smell , LOL.

Do you mean to say smelly, or stinky? Or aromatic perhaps?

I am a White guy (although by some people's logic I am a Black woman since I support the rights of Blacks and Women!) and until recently I liked the way I smelled. I smelled like my grandfather. My girlfriend also likes the way I smell.

Lately though I have started to smell like some of my stinky relatives, and its very disconcerting. I think its fading away now though, thank God. Was it something I ate?

And I don't understand this bit about sweat glands being less functional. Which group has the less functional sweat glands? I have known both Whites and East Asians who sweat like pigs. But yeah, it seems it was the Whites who had the most smell.

Me, I hardly sweat at all. And when first arrived in Japan I could not find any acceptable deodorant so I began shaving my armpits and still do. Seems to me now that armpit hair is just a trap for foul odors and for sweat and oil to gather and decay. It also looks gross. Its hard for me to understand why others don't at least trim it short. Seems like basic hygiene to me.

Heh, I know the name for that process: You are getting older :D

Nothing changed on that score in 20 years.
Usually, with age, people start doing such things. Nobody think about smell at 20, but everybody after 40
You may not notice that, just because that is very slow process, You can not notice quantity changes ... only quality changes could be noticed, and not immediately of course, with ages.

Or did you misquote?
apparently not.

ok ... <offtopic on>

Old lady(L) in doctor(D) office:

L> Doctor, I affraid that I have some health problems
D> Please, tell me more.
L> I am farting
D> Everybody is farting, even me
L> Doctor, I am farting permanently, each second and more frequently. Nobody noticed that just because my farts are totally smelless and silent.
D> I see ... I will prescribe You some medication, and You will come for followup in two weeks.

In a two weeks at the doctor office:

L> Doctor, what kind of medication did You prescribe to me? Once I took first pill, my farts start smell. And they smell more and more, and now it is so nasty, that I can not stay in a place where I just farted.
D> Ok, I will write in Your file that we fixed Your nose, and now we will try to fix Your ears.

The joys of old age !

Wait till you have to shave your nose and ear hair every few days and people call you a silverback there is so much white hair on your back , LOL.

Yeah, I could tell funny story about nose hair trimmer.

About 4 years ago Santa Claws put it into my red sock. The fact, that I will never give a hand to that crazy old guy, is nothing in comparision with things which my wife and kids told me about bushes in my nose. Ok, one day I found some fluffy white hair sticked on it. I asked my son what is going on, and he told me that tried to trim our doggie ears, because : when he is pooping, poop is often stick to hair. Man, that was so exciting 😌

You seem to be having a conversation all by yourself.

I have been trimming everything below the neck since my twenties.

Sure, and You are doing it much more frequently and throughly now

I'm talking about body odor, farting is some else, farting is a form of art that every culture should appreciate.

Old war stories.

In books about WWII , the Korean War, Vietnam conflict where non-asians were fighting Asians , there are many comments about being able to "smell" the enemy before seeing him when on patrol. Both sides claimed the sweat of the enemy had a distinctive odor they could smell at quite a distance. It was explained as being caused by the different diets of both sides. I often wondered if it was the smell of their cooking fires and food smells asorbed by their clothing and not their sweat.

If you going to indirectly quote books, then you should give us the references.

What is the name of the book? Who is the author? Is the book relevant? Is the book reliable? Is the book academically acceptable?

Years & years ago.

They were paperbacks I read in the 70's and 80's about war. Gave them all away for the church book sales years ago; sorry.I didn't relize talking about peoples body odor was so serious a subject. Maybe this thread doesn't belong under chit chat?
