WHY doesn`t jref delete accounts if request from the owner?!

Every other good site like twitter, myspace, livejournal etc., deletes accounts without trouble. Why doesn`t jref?
Why does jref insist on keeping (for what purpose do they need or use) information of people no longer active?
Information such as Country, City or state of residence, Date of Birth, email and Nationality? Maybe for resell? Or do they simply not have the know how to delete it?
It`s disturbing to think about what they might do with my information
Personally, I don`t want to change my own email or enter a wrong one, because that doesn`t solve anything.
The stuff I`ve written and my username are still out there. And if somebody else gets access to the account they use my identity to do whatever without me knowing.

I would imagine accounts are not deleted because doing so would either remove that users posts, which in many cases would be unfortunate, or because those posts would then have to be linked back to an admin or other account for someone who didn't post them. You can, to my knowledge remove your Country, City, State, DoB, and Nationality though. Unless this has been changed recently they are located under "Forum Actions" > "Edit Profile".

I think...............

the main reason is you have posts that people have answered to. If we deleted everything, their posts would not make sense. No one can see your E-Mail address except a few admin. Once a member stops posting , they just fade away more or less. I think even if the deleted you here , Google would still show your old activity, but not sure about that. It maybe the program that runs JREF makes it super difficult to delete accounts, not sure. Admin is probably just now waking up and maybe able to give you a better answer.

As I know, all these services marks Your account ID as deleted, that is all what they are doing.
They even not recycle Your account ID, just make Your account invisible.
They do not delete any information, just because it has some commercial value

BTW, I think that You may ask Thomas to clear all Your posts and profile records.

as a matter of fact, yes. I want to use this name on other sites without people seeing my interests (jrock, etc.)

Then you should exercise the same caution you exercise anywhere online. Don't have anything associated with it you wouldn't want associated with it in real life. You can no more expect to successfully pull off a cyber-mulligan on forums than you could expect to remove from cyberspace nekkid photos of yourself once posted online. The time to consider all this is before acting, not after.

Last year you contacted us claiming that the person behind the account "is deceased". I replied to you that according to our ToS we do not delete user accounts for the reasons stated in this very thread. Also, if you read our Disclaimer and Privacy Statement you will find out that we are not reselling personal info, so please do not jump to conclusions.

While I doubt that Yarudee-sama is "personally identifiable" (Google only brought up JREF threads), I suggest you change your username here on the forum and the issue of your claimed traceability is solved. Please contact me via PM about a change of username.
