Hello,

I'm having a trouble.

過去の歴史的な出来事を記したと思われる壁画を発見.

My translation was: "The previous traditional events written......discovery of the mural."

I really can't get through this "word". Some dictionaries say it is "be considered, be deemed, thought to be", others say it is "to seem, to appear" (removing the TO). But the point is, I'm very confused about it.

My guess is: "The mural that is considered to describe the previous tradicional events."

But the 発見 is not used and it's confusing since the end of the sentence is actually the begining of it.

Is this phrase confusing or am I too dumb?

I saw it was weird but since I'm a beginner I didn't think it was wrong, mainly because I took it from a newspaper.

If 発見 is a verb, then the sentence makes sense to me.

Strictly speaking, it's not the passive 壁画が発見（された） but 壁画を発見（した）, so the translation is "(the subject given by the context) discovered the mural~".
