Soooo this may be a odd topic lol but thought I would see if anyone else thought it was odd and not just me..
I have a Japanese friend we're at the same uni really close started hanging out because I was tutoring her as her English isnt brilliant, but anyway. Most students regardless of whether their native or exchange tend to live together either in halls on campus or in shared student houses in the city, litterally this is how it is for 99% of students everywhere in the country. Now my Japanese friend is a 3rd year like me.. In her first year she lived in halls before I knew her and had housemates like normal students do, shes dead shy but they all liked her and she liked them. But as of second year she lives in a really old house with an elderly married couple. They are English not Japanese, not friends of her family. It seems really odd too me and we've never really spoken about it much but it just seems really strange.
Has anyone heard of this kinda thing with other Japanese students on exchange? She studies INCREDIBLY hard shes on campus 8am through to 10pm most days studying and reading books sometimes even on weekends. So I thought mabye its something her family had forced on her, they dont want her mixing with the native students and getting distracted or influenced?
