Adding Extra Information

Hello everyone

So I'm wondering how to make a sentence adding unnecessary or extra information. For example:

I just saw a monkey. + Monkeys are my favorite animals = I just saw a monkey, (which is my favorite animal.)

僕は猿を見たところです。 ＋ 猿は一番好きな動物で す。 ＝ ？

I'll take a guess, but I'm not sure if it'll be right:

僕は(一番好きな動物だ)猿を見たところです。

I'm sure it isn't right, but who knows? Not me

よろしくお願いします

My gut reaction would be to say

僕は一番すきな動物の猿を見たばかりです。

But of course I am probably wrong.

I haven't been actively studying much lately either. lol.

But how about (僕の)一番好きな動物である猿 >>>If 猿 is the subject or topic of the sentence...

What Tomii-san was talking about maybe be the non-restrictive relative pronoun, by any chance? If so, I would say ちょうど今猿を見ました。（ちなみに猿は僕が一番好き な動物なんですが。）

Yeah, it looks like the non-restrictive relative pronoun to me too. I think like Toritoribe suggested, it's best to split them up and use ちなみに, which is like "incidentally". Since Japanese doesn't distinguish between restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses, to be clear about what you mean you'd have to split them up.

(僕の)一番好きな動物である猿をちょうど今見ました。
I've just seen a monkey which is my favorite animal.


I wasn't exactly sure what he meant so just corrected from the standpoint of だ to である.

But the latter I guess is kind of awkward to put in context. Maybe in response to a question like
"Haven't you seen your favorite animal lately" !???
