Question about "genuine Japanese" posters

Hello, I have been surfing through a quite a bit of Asian forums, alot of which are suppose to talk about Japan. Ironically, many members, such as here, usually are not Japanese, thus many questions that are meant for native Japanese often come from heresay and as we all know, info that get passed may usually get its info not exactly 100% accurate.

The major dissapointment I find is, when I do find a Japanese poster online that can speak english, or at least engrish that can be at least understandable to english speaking westerners, whatever that comes out of their mouths can be a major turn off.

I remember a 100% native Japanese member here on Jref by the name of McTojo, actually this fellow has been to about 1/3 of the Japanese forums are has been pretty much banned, as well as a few others. And due to the rarity of Japanese that ever register, its these guys that are happened to be banned are the most direct leads to understanding the Japanese way of thinking from their point of view rather than through heresay.

To put it bluntly, Japanese forum posters and blog posters in english language websites such as 2chan,youtube,Jtoday,asiafinest,Jref, etc are pretty much majorly ultranationalists and extremists, or at least thats what it sounds like from what I have interpreted from their bad grammer, no offense though.

For the Japanese it seems that their reputation online is close to nil because of their biased stance towards often controversial issues and stubborness to reject views from non-Japanese.

Tourists to Japan who have been to Japan to express their issue that there is corruption in Japanese government through showing examples on youtube are often replied by hateful Japanese who act in such ways to prove critics to Japan right. The author will usually reply: "see his post, thats how they act", playing right into others hands. Maybe the Japanese do this purposely? But for what?

Sure I understand that alot of negative odur Japan gets is uncalled for, but, the way many Japanese behave towards their angry bashers are in know way solving the issues. While on the internet many non-Japanese try to make an effort to close the resentment gap and cultural differences between east and west, the Japanese posters even begin hating those that are helping them by saying things like "we don't need your help gaijin, we japanese don't like you" or something to that effect. Well.... so much for being a mediator between its neighbors.

Understanding history does not mean hating the Japanese. But rather than being some brainwashed Japanophile, I took the effort to learn history as to not let it repeat and since I don't have cable TV, I watched history footages from youtube regarding the whole history of WWII. But the replies that these clips show, has not one Japanese who sound apologetic but rather bashing americans and british for talking about burma railway and bataan with truly insulting comments to the POW victims.

I have only met 1 or 2 out of a dozen english capable speaking Japanese online that are not ultranationalist.

However the silence of moderate Japanese and the ever increasing extremists may pose a serious problem in the future. I just find that alot of real Japanese online who thinks that whitewashing and antagonizing others is a way of improving their own image isn't really working, that is if they bothered to read the replies they get for history denial.

The burden of such hate must be heavy, that is if this is true in Japan, as interpreted from posts by real Japanese online then this might be one of the factors for Japan's suicide rate. For Japan not to fall back into 1930s and advance in modern society, I think that Japanese should put down their strong hatred of its neighbors and other gaijins and try to give tolerance to the non-Japanese world, since its the 21st century, I see no benefit in clinging on to Nazi-like ideal as it is impractical even in the buisness world.

Um, McTojo was not a native Japanese, he's just a pure-bred imbecile. Almost all of the actual Japanese active members on this board are extremely kind and level-headed. If you go out looking for people shouting the loudest, that's all you'll find.

It would behoove you to research propaganda tactics employed on the internet. "historical documentaries" put on youtube are usually just designed to push someone's agenda.

Lastly, not being a native Japanese doesn't automatically mean they are speaking from hearsay (which is exactly what you've done here). There are many expats on this board that have more experience with Japanese people than you ever will.

1. He was banned from here quite a while ago, while you have joined just now. That either means that you have really read a lot here at Jref before joining, did a search for him, which landed you here, or you know something you're not telling.

2. McTojo admited freely that he was not Japanese. In fact, he even posted his picture once here, and the man in the picture was clearly not of Japanese ancestry.

I agree here with nice gaijin. Don't judge all Japanese people by doinks on forums, especially large unmoderated ones. Extremists can be found on any large forum anywhere in the world. A while ago, Yahoo had message boards for news articles and many people who posted there often posted hate speech, complete with words such as the n-word. However, many other Americans will not tolerate that sort of speech. Similarly, trolls on 2ch and YouTube spew their rubbish to get attention, and because on 2ch you can post multiple times, the doinks often drown out the more rational people.

And like nice gaijin and Mikawa Ossan said, McTojo was not Japanese, he was simply a troll and an idiot who wanted to get attention for himself.

There are very, very few Japanese posters/lurkers at this forum because most of it is in a foreign language containing a lot of slang and idioms--makes it difficult to understand. Moreover, a lot of the posts are confrontational, which seems rude or even disgusting to many Japanese.

If you want to communicate with Japanese, I'm afraid you are going to have to learn their language and their style of communication. (But this is just my opinion.)

I can vouch that Nagashima-san is indeed asian in appearance, and he does speak Japanese at a native-level capacity. Also, he reads Japanese at least well enough to read maps and such. I can also vouch that he possesses a large motorcycle, and that he lives in Japan. Oh, I can also vouch that he is unashamedly nonproficient in English. I can't remember if I saw his driver's license or not, though...

But anyway, I'm convinced that you're a "genuine Japanese", Nagashima-san!

Although I do underline much of the first poster, and am as concerned basically, I also would like to join into praising Nagashima san, for his fairness and politeness, even if it was hard topic from time to time! He does have my respect and I want him to know this.

One point is indeed, that several non Japanese use the illusion of being a Japanese, like Centajapan, for example, and obviously several japanese visitors use this and other forums(even non japanese forums, we had them there as well, by the way! Same story all over), to spread out right winger's views, definitely in clear hope of support for them. Its simple propaganda and often accompanied with a lot of agression (which people like Nagashima san for example don't!).
These are always also psychological problems of pretty easy to watch nature.
They feel wronged by history, and try to explain it any which way, even if the facts go against this.

Point is, if they would recognise, how many do in fact appreciate them very much and have even fought for them, it would be all good. But the heavy machinery behind them blasts all these positives out and thats exactly dangerous! But is clear manipulation!

We had similar situations in Germany before Hitler came, the Germans had problems, felt wronged, or so they were told, then the Nazis built up scapegoats and nationalism, and superior thinkings and off it went.

Lets not forget, that the Germans once stated the Japanese to be aryans like them, which from (neutral, please!) race point is ridiculous, and was nothing but a trick, to keep them on our side. But with their still weak self-consciousness they ate the poisoned apple (and it keeps coming up again!) and thus overrated themselves severely, although they already knew, what the end of the road was by the German example. But they thought themselves to be even more superior(see the film Kabei!!), and thus blinded themselves even more, with according result.

But the once implanted or revived virus of superiority made them believe this, also, because supported from their own made up history.
Its such an old trick of all time emperors and other wannabe gods, that you wonder, why many did not, nor do not now, see this. (I do not mean the Japanese in general, just some manic posters etc. for example)

Each race/country has its own wonderfull gifts, each country is great in its own ways, each country is a part of the great whole, but who feels wronged, is often blinded.

We are all wronged many times, everybody, but that does not mean, that we must now kill everybody, who has a different view. Sometimes its enough to just realise this, but remember, to go on with those, who understand, and not waste your time and energy with those, who don't.
Those are often seen under "hungry ghosts", Nagas in Buddhism, actually, Give them some parts, but otherwise don't let them eat you, they will not thank you anyhow, by which you can realise this phenomen. It also has a name in psychology, but this is not the place for it. . .
