Corrupt a Wish

This is a classic forum game. Basically, you make a wish. The next poster finds a loophole in your wish to make it have an outcome that you didn't originally intend. This is "corrupting the wish."

Example time:

"I wish for an end to world hunger."

"The UN decided that natto would have to be the diet of all peoples of the world... I wish for the cure to cancer."

"But another even more deadly disease develops in its place. I wish for..."

You get the concept. So here we go!

I wish i had more brains.

Dear Arlet, please open your mind. If you do, I like to think you'll see no need at all to simply ignore my post, but could even learn something (and however small) from it!!

That is the very reason why I posted my comment, although i know that many others like yourself will probably dismiss me, and just continue playing a game which dwells on negativity, and further spreads it through the world. I understand completely why folk may do that, but I think that it's not right, and I will fight (with my gentle and loving words) for everything I believe in.

Let's see who plays!! - who prefers to be negative rather than positive; who prefers to dwell on the things that kill us, rather than the things that set us free; that make this unique and short life we have here on this beautiful planet meaningful, rather than negative and inconsequential!!

In short, let's see who are the lovers and who are the fighters here - and then let me myself 'fight' (in a sense) the fighters of the love of life - with love!!!

Psychologist friends have shown me that sometimes the thing you fight against in your mind are actually the thing you most cherish and hope for!! And that to dwell on the worst possible results of any action merely invites that very outcome.

So far here we have the very wonderful wishes that:

World hunger is ended forever.

All forms of cancer are cured.

More American TV is beamed around the World (???) LOL

Everybody in the World can understand each other, and; engage with each other; absolutely irrespective of language

Everybody tries to respect each other more

See what I mean???

A world of love, respect, peace is against what is inside our genes, the will of a creature born to betray, kill, pillage for its own survival. While we don't have to do all the things above, we, you, me, everyone is capable of doing it. Our world is far from ideal, but even in this world we show the symptoms of what i would call "feeling unsatisfied with our roles". The fact that we dream of different worlds, different aspects of a different cultures, all this longing proves that we often don't know just what is our reason to exist. Just like a fish that swims against the current. If you pull it out of the water, it won't suffer anymore, but you know, instead it will die. Love and respect is also part of our lives, but we need just as much suffering, simply because suffering the fuel of motivation, which is what takes us ahead.

Not that i particularly enjoy this game, its just unfair to say that this topic would cause any sort of problem.

Derfel san, I would humbly suggest that you are 100% wrong here in this statement. Sure, everyone is capable of that, but...is that really what you wanna strive for...?

Im just pointing out that we are only able to live relatively guiltless lives because modern society allows it. And the reason why we're not murdering and pillaging is because we can handle our survival without it. But if something major started. A war, an ice age, a crisis, we would give in to our urges and desperately cling into every last thing that promises survival. And yes, for it we would kill and pillage.

Some fine points, due some yet finer and deeper analytical discussion have been presented, indeed. Most unfortunately, I am afraid that I am under a certain amount of pressure to suggest that we wait, and hope, and, yes...for however one chooses to envision it, pray for that 'Serious Discussions' sub-fora to once again reappear, so that we can carry on there.

For the moment, however, gentlemen and gentlewomen, it is more in line with standard procedure to allow this thread to carry on as the OP has suggested, for those who see fit to carry it on. This is in application of the 'stay on topic' rule. PEACE !! MM

Agree with MOS. Granting the wish to end world hunger at a grisly cost...this is a distateful joke!
