how are english recieved in tokyo/japan

hey everyone im planning my first trip to tokyo next year i am a 20 year old white-english male just wondering how japanese and english relations are not too concerned about hostility as the japanese seem freindly and courteous people but it cant hurt to ask

Westerners aren't so special in Tokyo these days, you may get a few stares but the Japanese in Tokyo are pretty accustomed to seeing people from England, America, etc. I think you'll be just fine. Just be a polite guest as you would anywhere else and you'll be well-received 99% of the time.

You'll have no problem.

By the way, in the Meguro section of Tokyo, there's an English pub called the Meguro Tavern. If you have a craving for fish & chips, I recommend it.

thanks mate ill bear that in mind cant beat english chips but i hate fish im dreading the smell of sushi.

Sushi doesn't have much of a strong odor to it... it's quite light actually, it's the texture and taste of each type of fish that are most important... The slight sharpness added by a bit of wasabi between the rice & fish...

I'm not a big fan of fish, especially what you get at standard fish & chips shops, battered, fried, what have you... but I love sushi---

Oddly, I feel sushi is the fish for people who hate fish....

You may not choose to eat fish voluntarily, but I prosmise that it will end up in food and you will eat it. I am not saying you'll like it...I don't, but I have eaten a good amount while in Japan, simply because I didn't know it was in what I was eating. You learn to gulp it down really fast. I remember being told not to worry that there is no fish in this tempura, just vegetables. Well, not exactly, there was this fish paste sausage (or something like that) and it was awful. My friend said that they didn't think that was really considered "real" fish so I wouldn't mind!
