Please help me translate this

I'm having trouble more so with the ことがあるん portion of the sentence because I have the slightest idea as to what it could mean. Can someone please explain?

こと means "thing/matter" in an abstract sense (in this case). So, there is one of those. I assume you've got the 聞きたい and the rest.

Is it the ん that is confusing ? The full translation of ことがある is "there is a thing that....(more naturally : there is something that....)" From that point I guess you know how to append 聞きたい to the end in Japanese.
