Why not ask what Maciamo really wants?

Perhaps we can gain clarity by taking the direct route and asking Maciamo and to some extent Rocklee what they want? Perhaps there are good intentions that we are unaware of and we ungrateful longtime posters are simply misunderstanding the actions of kind, generous and visionary people. SO perhaps someone with courage should ask Maciamo, and perhaps other staff members what is up.

I am returning to my corner to cower and sulk in happy silence.

Sabro, I understand your position, but I don't think this is the best manner in which to proceed, especially given that you are obviously being sarcastic.

On the other hand, I do think that that would be great if Maciamo would explain why does some of the things he does, but that's really his perrogative.

I think that part of the problem is that even if Maciamo did in good faith try to explain his way of moderating, many people here would not take the olive branch but rather go on the offensive, thereby pushing Maciamo further into a corner from which he lash out again.

I know this is not the most flattering of analogies, but an otherwise docile and peaceful canine will lash out when cornered. It's a natural reaction, and it's innate in every last one of us.

We have to go into any such discussion in good faith and with an open mind. We must remain calm, or no progress will ever be made. The same is true for confronting anyone with just about anything.

As you are well aware, there is more than one way to "fight back". One not necessarily be belligerent in manner.

I still think a person of real courage and conviction should ask. This part is actually sincere.

I don't think I am being belligerent at all. I would rather see this type of thing resolved without conflict so we could return to discussion. I am upset that so many of the old regulars have been driven off by what to me seems like an agressive and hostile party and I would like to know why. I am concerned however that simply the act of asking directly could get me punished or banned... again.

Second...I don't believe that RockLee has done anything to warrant being called out. While his way of thinking may be a little different, he tends to have a fairly level head.

I came home and found 7 new infractions, all from Maciamo.

I guess that comes from reporting his offensive post. Apparently, he is the only person incapable of making an offensive post, despite the fact that quite a number of people expressed they took offense at his gratuitous race-baiting.

the pirate and the parrot on his shoulder want, but they are going to get a forum of young people who come and go with posts only on Jrock,anime,manga; no thoughtful or meaningful posts and no long term members. BUT, who cares, as long as the money pours in to JREF owner's pockets from the ads they sell. A website like JREF is capable of bringing in thousands of dollars in ad sales; why should the owners care what the content of JREF is, as long as they can set back and rake in the money?
To bad Thomas is incapable of stopping the abuse of power that is so evident to members who have been around a few years and suffered from unfair treatment or watched their friends suffer and be banned. I guess all that does matter is the dollar figures generated.

All I know is we keep repeating this same tired old theme every few months, almost like clockwork, and it is always the same moderator at the center of it.

The only difference this time is the sheer number of people who took offense at his thread, which, let us not forget, even site management found to be so offensive or problematic that it had to be deleted.

To his credit, Maciamo has certainly acknowledged in the past the inadequacies of his interpersonal style and the pain that being 'exceptional gifted' causes for not only himself but others around him. Quite obviously it has handicapped his adjustment and emotional maturity in life....I'm not using that as a crux or justification to constantly complain about being misunderstand or not to deal with problems rationally, but at least it puts the situation in some context. How much more there is behind those revelations or what difference it would make in a practical sense I'm skeptical

I agree 100%. Discussions on Japan related topics can be extremely deep and substantial without causing undue controversy or a negativity backlash. If this is honestly what you came back with the intent of helping to do....

I also have some inadequecies, and it is more difficult for me to intermingle socially, however, it is something that I never gave up on, I have always kept moving towards being socially likable, and I have definitely seen some payoff. Recently I do have some people who are actually happy to see me, and I don't feel I make people uncomfortable as I once did. But then it's always been my goal to get on well with people while still retaining myself.

In part I do think that Maciamo has some biases that are far too strong, and they get in his way of thinking objectively and being able to get on well with people. His bias against religion and the Japanese culture at least as I see it need to be toned down, and mostly for Maciamo's benefit. The intolerance towards certain peoples is Maciamo's own form of anger, and anger the result of pain (whether that be fear or remembrance). Both fear and memories of fear as well as paradigms can be altered while still fitting reality, so to cause oneself less pain, and as a direct result of that, to feel less anger, intolerance, impatience, etc.

Just my thoughts.

While I share some of Mac's views on things, I'm not his minion or side-kick Sabro. Why you had to involve me into this is beyond my understanding.

Anyways, we'll have to wait and see how things will evolve, posting rants and threads will do little to no good. *looks into things*

I agree with other posters on this thread that this is not the way to do things. While your concerns are noted, this thread isn't going to help matters and I am therefore locking it before it goes downhill, like a runaway snowball of DEATH.
