Water to the mills of the anti-immigration and overtourism crowd:
A fight broke out between two groups of foreign tourists on a Fujikyu Railway train travelling through Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture, on Friday, disrupting services on the line. The trouble began at around 12:30 in the second carriage of a three-car local train bound for Kawaguchiko, near Higashi-Katsura Station. Reports said the argument started over something minor, who had stuck their leg out, and who had not, before escalating into a brawl involving several people.
Conductors stepped in and brought the situation under control, but two people were injured. The train was held at Higashi-Katsura Station for nearly an hour, and several foreign passengers were handed over to the police. Around 400 other passengers were on board. They were not involved and were told to transfer to later services. The disruption led to four cancellations on the Fujikyu Railway Line and delays to 12 trains, including express services, affecting about 2,150 people. Operations resumed at around 17:00.
