If you guys remember at all, I wanted to move to Japan. There is a book called "Dreaming Japanese" which details the wild journey of the Legendary Marty Friedman, and his journey from Megadeth fame to becoming a beloved household name in Japan. Now, my aim isn't to become famous and then move to Japan and be famous there. But I asked AI if it was good to read for motivation, and it said yes, but I wanted to ask ya'll, see what you guys think.

Oh yes. He is easily one of the most famous and well known persons' in Japan. He is the current Ambassador of Japan Heritage, the first foreigner to hold the title (or is it a position, I think not) but whatever, he's really cool! I'd encourage you guys to listen to his guitar solos for Megadeth, specifically the ones in Rust in Peace, their 1990 Album.

This is Tornado of Souls, their most popular and well-known song, widely considered to be one of, if not the greatest, Thrash metal song, and solo, of all time. Also, my personal favorite Megadeth song.

What do you mean by too pure? And yeah, I was a Metallica die hard, then I listened to Megadeth, and I was like "Holy Sh!t this is good!"

The same thing happened to me with K-pop Demon Hunters.

I think Megadeath is pure thrash metal. Metallica straddles the divide between metal and mainstream rock making it easier listening.

Marty is cool, but for me, Chris Poland was a way more interesting guitar player, but I did like Rust in Peace.

I must be a total ignoramus (I'm definitely not into noisy music ), but I have never heard of him or seen him on Japanese TV. Neither has my better half. It was interesting to read his entry on Wikipedia:

Well this statement isn't true of course.

Actually I never heard of him until today. Of course I had heard of Megadeath but I don't know the names of most individual artists in bands.

I see him on Japanese TV now and then so yea I am familiar. Seems like a nice guy. Do not have any connections to him. While some Japanese know of him as my wife does I would say he is not as well known as many other talents from the west. I do not care for Megadeath but I think I would like him in person.

I would argue more Japanese know Patrick Harlan who is 2 degrees from me we know people in common but not each other, the same generation as me, grew up one hour from where I grew up.

David Spector was at least at one time even more famous than Harlan.

Heck that why Japanese people annoying character is more famous in Japan IMHO.

and this is just talking about Japanese TV. Tom Cruise etc. in Hollywood movies are even more famous.
