Question Kakō dai-dōmyaku

Is 'kakō dai dōmyaku' the correct term for descending aorta?

I found the term for descending colon (kakō dai-cho) and aorta (dai-dōmyaku) and assuming kakō means 'descending' I juxtaposed the two words. But knowing this doesn't always work with Japanese (as evidenced by many 'chicken soup' tattoos) I thought I'd ask if it's correct. Also, would somebody show me the correct kanji for descending aorta?

That sounds right, but my japanese is not good enough to confirm it. Tho as you've probably seen, both Jim Breen's WWWJDIC and google translate agree with that.

BTW, miss piggy, or one of her friends (RIP), thankfully donated a heart valve--which was used to replace my own aortic valve 5-6 years ago.

My apologies, but I need a little bit more now! I want to add 'bifurcation of…' to kakō dai dōmyaku. In other words the Japanese for 'bifurcation of the descending aorta'. Can anyone help?

A cursory peek into the dictionary would suggest 分岐 (bunki) for "bifurcation."
So probably 下行大動脈の分岐.
