It's a good question. Nowadays many people attend online school. We don't use 通っているwith online school because we really don't go(we stay at home) In this case we can say オンラインコースをしています。オンラインで勉強しています。オンライン授業に参加しています。

I heard ( but I don't know it by myself so I am not 100 % sure ) that there are few online high schools or junior high schools in Japan. Especially for students who don't want to go to normal schools because of bullying or for some other reasons.
