Did something recent happen to cause you to pull the trigger? FB is my most used social media app. Mainly to keep an eye on local happenings and to keep in touch with some friends/family.Off topic but, I just committed to deleting my facebook account. It says that it will be permanently deleted in one month's time. When I logged back in to check, I had no access to my account whatsoever. However, I did have the option to cancel my decision. That was all I could do. Good riddance, I say.
AP News said:According to a report published this week, Cybernews researchers have recently discovered 30 exposed datasets that each contain a vast amount of login information — amounting to a total of 16 billion compromised credentials. That includes user passwords for a range of popular platforms including Google, Facebook and Apple.
This makes the experience much worse for me because I normally use FB to look at posts from groups I'm in. There's one "friend" who is constantly posting vomit like this on a daily basis. So that link gives me a long list of his posts (which I don't see in my normal feed because he's muted).Use this link to avoid the crap that Meta thinks you should see. It only shows posts from friends.

Just delete the knucklehead. Admittedly, my feed isn't that much better, as about 80% of the posts on it are from about three people (whose views on US's descent into fascism and the situation in Gaza I agree with, but they do go on). This makes the experience much worse for me because I normally use FB to look at posts from groups I'm in. I would but he's a distant relative and I don't want to cut the cord.Just delete the knucklehead. I only recently found out about this, myself. My entire feed was "Recommended for you" with a light dusting of friends and followed groups. But 90% of my feed felt like that one aunt who heard you're into games and then sent you a crate full of old Monopoly, Ludo, and Tic-tac-toe games. Close but not reallyUse this link to avoid the crap that Meta thinks you should see. It only shows posts from friends.

If you block him on FB rather than mute, you can still message on Messenger etc. but he won't show up in your feed - that's what I did to some of my racist family members. None the wiser and I don't get their vitriol shoved down my throat every time I need to check events and the like from the rest of my family.I would but he's a distant relative and I don't want to cut the cord.
