Just saw where Israel is now under attack from Iran. Wonder if the US will get dragged into it full bore? Last I heard , Biden is on vacation in Florida and maybe no one will tell him . Always something to worry about these days , but this one scares me.

goes to lie about my age and join the army

When I got out of high school in 1968 , I couldn't wait to join the Marines and go to Vietnam. My dad had just hired two young guys who had been to Vietnam to fight and got out. They spent about an hour telling me about the horrors of war and killing. I decided to join the Navy after their talk. As you get older , you learn all the death & destruction of any war is not like the TV shows & movies that glorify it. I'm fine with people joining the military to serve their country , but the idea of becoming some great hero in battle by killing the enemy is a childish dream. The sad part of any war are the deaths of innocent civilians and the total destruction of homes and businesses that cost a fortune in money and time to rebuild. It's sad that in this day and age with all the knowledge of past wars , we still get dragged into them. It seems that almost all wars are started by old men who sit in safety while they send the young to die. In the end , it seems the only ones who benefit are the ones making the ammo and war material. I'm praying things don't escalate in the Mid East and get out of control , but I don't think cooler heads will prevail.

I'm looking to join the Air Force when i grow up. I'm part of Civil Air Patrol, I actually have a meeting today. Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary branch of the USAF, and through it I can get my pilots license, take multiple steps to getting my wings, and even get into ROTC.

I wonder what @Mansoor has to say about the current developments. Since he lives in Iran, he would have a unique perspective. I hope he continues to be safe.

Unless I remember incorrectly, there is a certain segment of the population that believes that the Second Coming will be hastened by war in the Middle East. I was always taught that God, Allah, Yahweh worked on His own timeline and wasn't influenced by mere mortals. Those hoping for war and encouraging it are severely misguided in my opinion. It also seems blasphemous to think that people can influence the Almighty.

Hopefully that even it the situation does devolve to war between Iran, Israel, Hezbollah, Hamas, and others, it will be short and relatively blood-free. It is all we can do to hope.

Washington Post said:
"Whenever Israel decides to stop its military campaign, what will remain are millions of traumatized Arabs who have watched their brothers and sisters in Palestine and Lebanon be slaughtered with gruesome impunity. These feelings won't easily subside," wrote Fawaz Gerges, a professor of international relations at the London School of Economics.
Netanyahu has spent much of his career obscuring Palestinian concernsand calls for statehood while grandstanding over security threats his nation faces from Iran and its proxies. He touted the Abraham Accords — normalization agreements with a clutch of Arab monarchies — as a template for peace and prosperity in the region, even as it has further kicked the proverbial Palestinian can down the road.

"Israel will not know lasting peace until it recognizes that its long-term security depends on reconciliation with the millions of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem," Gerges added. "Its leaders must find a political compromise that will finally allow Israel to be fully integrated into the region. Top-down normalization with Arab autocrats is not enough."

I agree with Gerges. I don't really think that Netanyahu actually wants peace, but if he does he will need to win a victory much harder than any military battle ever was.
