He didn't die in service to his country, he was EX-Prime Minister. Also, as far as has been shown he died because of his involvement with the "Unification Church", not because he used to be PM.

There is no basis in precedent or law to give him a state funeral. And he did NOT die in service to his country. He was retired. He did die in "service" to his party. Therefore his party should have held a memorial event for him or pay the bill for this. (And that's essentially what they did except they made the taxpayers pay for it.)

Yes. Jake is a Japan basher, and always has been and always will be. I wonder if he will write books condemning his own country. Probably not.

This book is a junk piece on Abe Shinzo. A nation that does not tell the truth? What sort of vague accusation is this? Japanese people lie to the world because of Abenomics? I personally loved Abe because he was ambitious about national security issues. Most can admit that his economic policies failed, but did create jobs and stimulated consumer spending. Mr. Abe was more respected than loved, because he had the courage to do the right thing. He put key issues front and center, like Article 9 and greater alliances with other democracies around the world, not just the US. That alone makes him respected. He is much deserving of a State Funeral.

This proves that you do not even look at what's presented to you. This is an article and not a book. None of the accusations is vague but clearly outlined and described.
Answer the question: which facts in the article above do you dispute and why?
Even in his own Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), where he ruled with an iron fist for almost a decade, lawmaker Seiichiro Murakami stunned the press by stating very publicly last week, "I always opposed a state funeral for Abe and I won't attend. His administration wrecked state finances, the economy, diplomacy and even the bureaucracy. He was an enemy of the nation, a pirate." quote from the link
I can quote a dozen snippets of this article that is targeted specifically to bash Mr. Abes legacy. Not one mention of any notable achievements in diplomacy and national security. All of it this article is a trash piece.
I have mentioned previously about national security and strengthening relations with other democracies.
Japanese criticize every PM, even the last 18 different PMs since 1992! There is never a shortage of junk pieces written by non-Japanese and Japanese alike about a person willing to take responsibility for the country. This is not a popularity contest, it is about leading Japan towards liberation from ignorant Western dogmas and boot licking American leaders that have failed policies at home. Most Japanese are childish and ignorant about global issues and politics in general; who cares what they think. Fact remains, is that Abe was elected by the people in free and fair elections the longest of any PM in history.

"Who cares what they think" - that's quite a statement to make about the people of the country you live in and whose country you vociferously 'defend' against us western imperialists. As Thomas said, no further questions.
No. In a Democracy where there is free and fair elections. He was elected by the people, the very same people who many of you accuse as being a criminal.

I never praised free and fair elections. I simply stated that there were free and fair elections that elected Abe into power. Praising Putin would be more like me admiring him for his willful disregard for US foreign policy. By stating that Putin is the leader of the free world is a fact, not a praise.
