Tried it only once, & it was not the original stuff because the Korean who prepared it couldn't get the right vegetable. It was okay, though.

Kimchi is quite good. Love the kimchi-buta-don, kimchi bibimba, etc.

Oh, you said it. Kimchi bibimba is awesome 👍 . I actually like it the best with Japanese style korean barbeque (yakiniku). We had this one place near Kichijoji that would serve it all you can eat along with the meat. Fantastic. Everyone kinda smelled afterwards though.

you are Korean and you hate kimchi??? :?

I love kimchi

Well--and perhaps I'm the odd ball here--but I do not understand the fascination Korean and Japanese people have with pickled vegetables. I find pickled vegetables just plain nasty. I can tolerate pickles and takuwan, but other things I just can't stand. I prefer my vegetables to be fresh (like in a salad) or cooked. I dunno, maybe my tastebuds are too Westernized. ☝

I don't like pickled vegetables either. Too salty, too sweet, too everything. I much prefer them fresh.

kimchi is alright. actually, it depends. If my mom makes it, it's fantastic!

Kimchi is grubbing, and it goes really well with washoku. Dolsat bibimba(石焼けビビンバ)has to be one of my favorites, but kimchi, seriously I could eat it everyday. I also am a fanatic for spicy foods, so that's probably the reason. :gohan:

It's okay, I guess. Just a little too spicy for my taste.
How so? Spicy kimchi is the best! The spicier, the better! 👍
Spicy food in general rocks.
So yes, I like kimchi, especially the spicy ones (as long as there's no seafood in it - yuck!).

I can eat so much plain white rice with kimchi.
It is also good with beer. I love spicy food.

Although, I remember my Korean friends sat in a corner at the dorm cafeterria to eat kimchi so they wouldn't bother other people. I think the distinguish smell kimchi has could be weird to some people.

I love it! It becomes an addiction. Kimchi rice at the internet cafe in Japan - mmmmm. It doesn't smell good, but somehow it still tastes good. It's a hell of a lot better than nattou.

Ah, what is kimichi? I've never even heard of it before...

(damn California hasn't gotten over the sushi craze yet. )

I love kimchi! However, I think it might be an acquired taste, because I remember not liking it very much the first time I had it.

Also, speaking of Korean food, has anyone ever tried dog meat? We went to a barbecue resturant that had it when I was in Seoul. I asked the waitress about it but she talked me out of ordering it... I guess they think that foreigners wouldn't like it.

No dog meat here. Well, unless it was unknowingly when I was in Hong Kong :)

I love Kimchi. Well, most kimchi's. Except the one made with dandelions I believe.

I worked with a Korean guy for a while. He joked about Kimchi and said it was Korean for "rotten cabbage." He talked about how his mom would make it and they'd just leave it on the table for days at a time and just eat little bits of off it now and then. He said it was all the garlic in it that kept it from killing you.

Bleh!!!
