What's new

Times Trading Japan - is it a legitimate business?

Please post more details: website, contact history, why you doubt their legitimacy, etc.

In brief:
  • no full address, the postal code does not exist
  • no names or execs mentioned on their website
  • domain registered in September 2020
  • their IP address points to the UK, unusual for a Japan-based company
Have you tried phoning them? They also have a Zendesk Chat on their website.

Their FB page:

Yes have called - they seem to operate authentically. Its just that finding any extra information on the business is very hard.
Thank you for trying if you find anything else please let me know
Best

Those used car companies sprout like mushrooms - and disappear fast. Many are foreign-operated and export to Russia, the Middle East or Africa. The database of the National Tax Authority has no info on them, either.

Please let us know if you do learn more.

We are buying cars from them they are professional company and we are satisfied.
Can you provide some more information about your transactions? What's your own company name? Did you export vehicles, and where?

In other words, why should we take your word for it, anonymous internet user who created an account to make this one reply?

Hi @Miakoni, have you purchased any cars from Times Japan Trading Company
Hi,
I never went through with the sale - I really cant say if they are legitimate - All the dealings with them seem so. But I couldn't get a confirmation that I wouldn't be stuck having sent the money and not receiving a delivery. So i dint go ahead with it.

If anyone has actually had dealing with them pls let me know as well

Thx

Thanks for the update! Perhaps our new friend above can provide some more information about how they're totally a legit customer and just logging in from the same area as the company's listed address by coincidence.

I'm confident you did the right thing.

Seeing as though this thread has had some responses - Can I ask if anyone knows any car dealers/agents that export to Australia and that they have dealt with directly with in Japan that are legitimate? Thx in advance Mia :)

I recently wanted to do business with them but unfortunely they couldnt provide me with any substantial information.

I then contacted our embassy in Tokyo, Japan and they had this to say.

Dear Sir,

We have checked the website and the address.

First of all, the address does not exist.

The phone no. is a mobile phone, so it could be a briefcase company.

We could not find any listing of this company in the JUNVEA, Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association, an umbrella organization monitoring Exporters.

We'd advise you to find a reputable company that is registered from JUNVEA.

Hope this answered your question.

I have spoken to them and I enjoy talking to them, they are patient and do not put any pressure and are cooperative. I just don't know if they are legit.
And i can't find them on jumvea.or.jp , i think this means it is a small company?

Don't send these people money. Don't deal with them.

They send details of cars taken from other traders' sites and quote much lower CIF prices than you might expect. When you ask for a video of the car running they say they can't provide it because the car is too far away.

This is a scam company.
