Writing kanas

Hi, I'm working on my (hand)written japanese, and I've found that the character き, which on my virtual keyboard has a closed curve, when copying the strokes from this webpage (which seems to me quite good and useful), I find that it has an open curve. So... which one is the right one?

You've never noticed differences between English alphabet fonts and handwritten English? Which is the "right" one?
