would rather / would sooner / would as soon

Do you use the following sentences interchangeably?
(a) I would rather remain poor than do illegal things.
(b) I would sooner remain poor than do illegal things.
(c) I would as soon remain poor as do illegal things.

A and B are fine, A is more usual. C, I think is semantically fine, but it doesn't have the same meaning. It means you have no preference of doing illegal things over remaining poor; it does not mean that you have an aversion to doing illegal things like the other two do.
