Why the Time Limit On Viewing New Posts?

I am wondering why there is a time limit when viewing "new posts since last visit"? Often it will say "You last visited at 16:25 Jul 21, 2005" for example. When I click on to view all posts since last visit and am replying to one for more than 5 or 10 minutes and go back to the new posts page all the new posts are gone and it now says "you last visited at 10:28 Jul 22, 2005" for example.

This becomes very disconcerting and I then have to sift through all threads looking for those posted since I last visited.

Can anything be done about this? Or is it just something we have to live with?

its not a time limit its a time-out, server thinks youre inactive if you stay on the same page for long enough. you can open the thread in a new window to keep yourself active...

you can also use the link under "since last visit" to get all the posts in the last 24 hours
