Where has Lexico gone?

:? I didn't even know he was missing....I thought he was playing hide and screech....or some other obscure Lexiconical mind game he loves to play on the humor threads, etcl.....shows you how much I know.... :D

he probably popped off to the local alternate dimension to see how his other selves are doing in the multiverse, just to make sure they are doing ok, and since time is different in each one of them, you see him popping in and out of this forums page for good measure, not that he can physically reply or post or anything..... :?

The problem is the Forum should be a good mix of "ALL" things about Japan. We members need to try and keep the Forum interesting to all people. The Forum will go stale with just one topic day in and day out. It doesn't matter if everypost was on Japanese food, or all on anime, or J-Rock; a limit of topics will hurt the Forum. In todays society, boredom hits fast; a forum with one main topic is not going to do well, regardless of what the "ONE" main topic is. Variety is the spice of life is soooo true. We have members from around the world of all ages & interests, we have to "try" to please all of them if we want them to be active and return here.If we banished J-Rockers from JREF, it would not do a thing to help our Forum; we need good posts and new threads that are of interest to all. When someone makes an effort to post a new thread, we should try to read and reply to it if at all possible. Maybe if you can think of nothing to add to a good post, you can give the person some rep points to let them know you appreciate their effort.
I guess my point is, don't pick on the J-Rock group for taking over the Forum, it's up to all members to keep the Forum varried & interesting. Let's all try (especially some of our newer members) to post some new threads on different topics. Our members who live in Japan have a head start on things they can post to do with Japan, maybe they can help?

Frank

I'm one of the J-Rockers, and I certainly hold no grudge against you or any other expressing your thoughts and opinions as such. It is quite true, without variety, there is little to no interest as frequently as there once was. I have my own thoughts and opinions I wish to express in a new thread, however, I usually cannot find the proper way of going about beginning such. I have problems with nerves (even in such a comforting and familiar place as this), and cannot bring myself to express my opinions at times.
To help keep the variety of the forum, I will do what I can to try and keep people interested and make it a more even share of topics to be discussed.

I read through the other topics on the forum, however I feel as if I am too uneducated in what is going on, and I do not feel I have the right to interupt and it makes me feel as if I would be overly taxing and irritating the members already in the discussion. I enjoy reading the other discussions, but don't know how to join in comfortably or start a new thread, and I really enjoy lexico's insightful posts. I too miss him, even if I am not seen posting in topic areas other than J-Rock/J-Pop. It wouldn't be the same if he permanently left, and I hope he is alright.

@ Kinsao: Please do not leave the forum. :( I love seeing you around and catching you in a thread, makes some discussions more enjoyable.

(Sorry for butting in, but I felt like saying something :sorry:)

LEXICO WHERE ARE YOU ? (I hope he heard me typing in Caps)

SEXI LEXI....... please come back, we miss you..... at least tell us why you left, dont want to come back, or having this break?

It may sound like a broken record, but I think it probably was a lot of the j-rocker/pop thing which really REALLY started to dominate here (80-90% of responses) 2 or 3 mos ago about the time it seems Lexico started tuning further out and out. If the trend swings back towards balance and reason, well.... someone either needs to send out the happy tidings or he needs to check back in at least once more. Of course it could be something much more weighty and life-altering than this....in which case I sincerely apologize. 😊

I was looking through the members list earlier today and noticed that Lexico had logged in last friday. Come on Lex at least let us know what has happen. Why this prolonged silence? Was it something someone said?

maybe we should make a thread of BEST Lexico quotes...

You know I really like Lexico, but if he don't want to be here, well then not! sorry.

Yeah, I happened to be on at the same time and noticed it too. I figured it was only a matter of a few minutes where he was most likely looking for something in particular. I mostly agree with Dutch, though, and try not to expend more precious emotional energy burning the issue than I absolutely have to. :p

He could have a lot of good reasons for not posting anymore... I still miss him though. The place just isn't the same without him. :(

I think I know what Lexico has gone. Since the singer "Gunther" (www.gunthernet.com watch the videos... trust me) has been getting popular, Lexico decided to rake in some cash by doing a Korean verison of him. (Then give it to JREF)

I don't know if these links work for the full music video, but might as well try them.

Mhmm, i wondered why i hadnt been getting any rep lately......lex bailed on us. :(
Nah, lex has probably got other things on his mind like work or family or simply other interests at the momment (i have dissappeared sometimes, nobody misses nuri do they? DO THEY!? :( :( :( ).
Lex will show up when we dont expect it no doubt, or maybe he simply doesnt seem interested in the avaliable topics at the mo to get involved.
And yes the J-rockers are taking over the forums, advice to the J-rockers, get out the J-rock forum and spread yourselves around a bit, get involved, if possible keep your signatures to mildly discomforting instead of lighthouse bright annoying. :p
I see some concur
I guess we just have to stay out of the J-Rock/Pop forums. I mean, it takes about 15 minutes to load one page, because they've got so many HUGE pictures, use thousands of smilies, and have HUGE signatures.
I mean, seriously, it makes me want to *cry* because the signatures are so *huge*. OMG. Even after the many posts we've made about the *signature rules*
Why dont you just start enforcing the law?.
I attend a general purpouse forum that has active moderation, no light touches you follow the rules simple as, if your signatures dont conform to the rules it is deleted from your sig by a mod.
It will piss off the J-rockers but, tough, they have to choose between their sig's ridiculous size and annoyingness or getting to continue to post on the forum. 👍
Actually i dare say that is what might be pushing folk from joining in the forum, the website is a general purpouse Japan website for those involved with Japan, ussually moreso for those with an interest or actually going to/in Japan, when a newbie lurker comes on, what will they think when they find the forum dominated by some obscure and kowai sub-sector of Japan interest like J-rock, it literally seems to hold a sway here out of preportion of its popularity.
We need to make the rest of the forum look more appealing to prospective members, so i agree, we really need to get the rest of the forum going again.

I don't think the J-music fans will read that post....because they're in the J-rock forum. lol

I have never really been around to talk to Lexico. But with all the nice things said about him, I really wish I had been. Hopefully he will come back and I can get a glimpse of him in action.

I take offense to that comment, Mitsuo Oda... I'm a fan of J-music, but I don't spend my entire life in the Jpop forum... And I read that comment... I don't have [emphasis] HUGE [/emphasis] signatures, and I rarely post pictures, whether they're [emphasis] HUGE [/emphasis] or not. Also, that quote is overdramatizing... it does not take 15 minutes for a page to load... Heaven forbid if that happened... And I'm not meaning to enrage anyone, I'm jsut trying to speka my opinion here... let my voice be heard, if you will. Not all of the J-music people fit into the generalization, and I guess I'm standing up for those who are like me... I do see that quite a few signatures are pretty large, unnecessarily so, and that the posts that are now made, have very little purpose contained in them... Whereas last August perhaps, a short while before the Jpop forum became suddenly overpopulated, posts that I myself made, and others in rather unpopular threads were quite lengthy and they had more purpose than the short, 2 sentence (or less) ones now have. Sorry, if that did not make sense. 😌

But I myself rarely enter the Jpop forum anymore... it's much too crowded... it's like an online form of claustrophobia. It's not even *just* the Jpop forum I rarely enter anymore... I rarely enter Jref period! It's such a shame too... because there are many people here I wish to not disappear on, but when the imbalance of the Forum is so great, it's like endless havoc. I really do not wish to leave the forum, I love this place very much, but unless things calm down, I think I might leave permanently... (not that anyone would miss me... I try to make a difference, but I'm ignored.... or so it seems...)

I feel the same as Average Psycho.
It seems like most places that I end up on j-ref, there is someone b!tching about j-music fans, and it frankly pisses me off. In most threads, if someone disagrees with you, or feels like they don't like the direction the thread is going, they'll jump in and say so, and say why. But when it comes to music, no; it seems that people prefer to make sidelong comments in other areas of the forum rather than in the area they are actually talking about. If you want something to change, take some direct action to change it (like some people have already done with their useful ideas about splitting the j-music section up :) ).

I find the snide and patronising attitude of some comments towards the j-music section more offensive to my delicate sensibilities than the out-size of a few signatures.

Incidentally, I believe there is a rule which limits pictures signatures to appearing only once on a page - in the user's first post on that page - and there is also a limit on sig size in the rules of j-ref, which to the best of my knowledge is enforced. I will go visit the 'suggestions' section, I think... 😌

I am curious as to why people who are not interested in the j-pop section cannot simply ignore it quite happily and get on with their elsewhere posting.

I am sorry to rant, especially here where it is offtopic, but I am sick of j-music-forum-goers being constantly poked and prodded and I am not in a mood to remain shut up.

Is the J-Music forums really being poked, and prodded at in this thread? It's an active forum on jref.com. You can't blame that forum for people posting less in other parts of this forum. <3

I haven't seen Lexico posting. Then again I was banned for awhile so that's no surprise. Hopefully he comes back soon. :D

I don't know the reason of Lexico's leaving, but it seens that he usually visit this forum without posting .what prevent him from posting?

I miss lex too. We had some great conversations and he is as smart as a whip. He last checked in on 21-03-06 but didn't post. At least he is still checking in. He's probably too busy at the moment.

Thanks for the link Tsuyoiko. If that is our Sexy Lexy, then it's interesting to note his inclination towards more mature discussions that he noted. Maybe this place didn't do it for him and he moved on...? There's no more posts from that site after Jan 05, so maybe after that site he came here, then grew tired, and left for a better place?

...

@Average Psycho, you may not be like everyone else, but everyone else is not you. And while everyone's different, the overall trend of Jrock fan behavior is enough to warrant some generalization. I have known some great j-music fans, so I find the trend that is bothersome, not the people.

Jrock fans seem sensitive to criticism, as evident from my first posts there. I'm not a big fan of getting lynched there again because I don't agree with the Visual Kei style. High school age girls can be vicious. I can understand why few people go there. I myself have a lot of other problems with JRock fan behavior, but I won't get into that here.

Also I don't at all think people are not interested in the JPop section. I think people are not interested in the overwhelming amount of "sexiest jrocker" threads. And the pictures. Dramatizing or not, there are A LOT. And of course, I'd get lynched again if I ever said that there...

Sorry, but it just had to be said.

If you look, Lexico last logged on the Jref on March 22 of this year. I guess he's too busy to post, perhaps?

About Jrock.....I just blocked it under "My Settings". never bothers me at all anymore.

One things to be mentioned is that :

he is still alive~ !

he logged on the Jref on middle of this year_2008~~~~````` Lol
