Although I suppose one could consider this culture shock, this is more of an interest thread. I'm just curious if anyone remembers any JR jingles that they really liked while they were there. Although none of my friends remember any of the tunes (lol they just call me wierd for actually remembering them), I sure doツ ツ?エ (Tsujido comes to mind for me as my favorite). I'm slightly musically inclined when it comes to listeing to small melodies like that, so maybe that's why I always get excited when I'm stopping at a new town... it comes witha new melody!
I've said this before, but I really like the way they announce the station's name at Matsumoto Station. They don't really announce it so much as they sing it. I really like that bit of local flavor.
If you're feeling nostalgic you can hear dozens of these melodies at this site:
< Google for "Train Melody Paradise" >
My favourite is the JR Ikebukuro theme (attached.)
While I was toying with the idea of moving to Japan, and making occasional visits, this little melody was very evocative. (Of all the culture available in Japan, a JR jingle was what stuck in my mind. I never claimed to be entirely sane )
Taiko! Thank you soooo much!!! I couldn't get the Tsujido theme out of my head the entire day, meaning you completely made my day today! Now I can sleep a happy Oddball tonight!
Thanks for putting up with me everyone,
