What people think of you and jrock.

I keep the jrock to myself - I rarely listen to it with others. My family hates it... *sulk* ... and none of my friends share my love for Miya... hrm... jrock. I don't mind though - as long as I get to be alone some times and listen to it! *dances* One of my friends showed some fascination for the jrockers, but that's because of the way they look, not the music (which he hated ).

They (well most ppl anyway, about 2% understand me..)don't get me and think that I'm from another planet cuz I listen to Jrock. The most common Q is: JRock, what the hell is that?? I answer: Japanese rock, it's really good. They ask: Japanese? isn't that from...japan? doesn't it sound like ching-ching-chong *laughs* I say: Um.. no not really.... *walks away feeling missunderstood* They just don't undestand how one can listen to something when you don't get what the singers are saying.... I try to show them, let them listen etc... they just stare, and when I show beautiful pictures of ridiculously pretty jrockers (in dresses) they continue to stare and call them gay/OMG what is that.... Again, I try to explain; No...noooooo...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! F*** sake!!! It's an image thing... *sights*

But not all are like that, thank God, some agree with me that Die is über pretty and others love jrock as much as I do But there are few of them...
For ex. I saw a real Gothic lolita in my school (which has NEVER happend before ) and I'm just such a geek so I ran to her and complemented her style... hehe and her friend is a major Gackt fan!!! HALELUYA!!!! So he looks like him, wears shiny black pants and is so cute ^^ And gay!!!!! (for real!) *claps hands in utter happiness* But I will never go and say Hi to them... I'm to scared....

People react strangely when they find out that you like Jmusic, I remember this girl in a bookshop, she was listening to malice mizer and so I just asked her; Oh is that Gackt..? The look she gave me, as if I had just slapped her across the face... And she said; No it's malice mizer... (well yeah, but it's Gackt who is singing so I deserve half a point...).... and then kind of like semi ignored me and said something about moi dix mois playing live in paris *I know more then you do style..*

And my family hates it, my mom said Forever love is OK though.. but that's it.

I'm sorry, I just went on and on about things, gonna shut up now...

Well as Da Monstar said we are the only ones we know here in our town that listen to J-music. Some people know i listen to J-music but they don't se me as weird, because I also listen to other things like fusion jazz, funk/soul, cuban and classic. But some people think it's funny when they listen to J-Music. But that is because they think it sounds funny when Japanese people talk.

Haha! I've gotten that "ching-ching-chong"-thingy too!
I usually say I listen to japanese rock or japanese hard-pop if anyone asks, because I don't really expect them to know what j-rock is, and that's the comment I often get.
People mix i up with chinese, which sound like that sometimes(erm, most of the time), though chinese too is a beautiful language sometimes.

I wish I could meet some real suck elitist! Why don't we have those in Norway!?

It's not so wierd people think j-music is strange though, because it is. I've just realized how much of a ******* maniac-song Risutokatta is. I love that song even more every time I hear it!

Kagerou. It's apretty old song now(Also known as Wristcutter), but seems to be one of the most well known to western fans. Right along with XII DIZZY ofcourse.
First it's just strange, but listening to the different musical components it just gets me more and more what a great song it is.

But that's the kind of understanding you will never have if you're not willing to give j-rock a chance. You have to be willing to see the beauty in it to actually see it I think.

I hate it when people mix up the languages, they think all Asian languages sound the same which isn't the case at all. Most people are shocked to find out that in Japan (and all other Asian nations) there are actual dialects. I don't know why this shocks people so much, what do they think dialects are limited to the west only or something? My grandmother once said it was shocking that an Asian would/could speak in French (I was playing Malice Mizer for her). Now why is that? Why do people think things like this? I really don't get it. And it was also the way my grandma said it too that really got to me, as though she thought Asians were too dumb to know other languages. :auch: It was one of those moments where I wanted to remind her that I'm Asian. I should have...but I didn't. And sorry, I'm ranting.

Someone at my acting school asked to look through my CD Carrying Case the other day. When he flipped through it and only saw bands he didn't know he just gave me this weird look but said nothing. Next time someone asks to see my CD Case I'm gonna say this, "I will let you look at it if you agree to listen to one song of my choosing from a CD in it"

I mentioned Gackt when he was nearby, dunno if he heard me... but I think that he is suspecting something esp, when I sat and grinned like a dummie when he and that girl performed Gackt and Ayumi 'silent night' before christmas on stage in school. And I think the girl noticed my jrock bag (bag with band names on.. hehe).

It's so fun though to show people Kyo or Gackt, gackt yaoi or Kyo bleeding/screaming and me saying; Isn't he sweet?!

hmm random info to just say following up this topic. my mum, after an arguement just a while ago, turned around to me and said 'oh this death on the news isn't important but chinky chongy wang, that Freak of a guitarist from whatever band in Japan death is to you?' - currently not talking with her. hahaha My father likes Senor, senora, senorita and Kekkonshiki no Uta (Miyavi) that was so sweet...I had my cd player on and he asked me to put any of those songs I put senor, senora, senorita and he started dancing....sounds stupid but THAT was one special moments

My dad is sort of into music, so I was listening to Diru(Child prey or something) and he goes "This is really horrible music."
Then Macabre(the song) came on and he goes. "This is better. It has a melody". He was so surprised when I told him it was the same band

OMG! i so understand how you felt! one day when i was watching dir en grey, my dad came and sat down by my sis. He saw kyo and started commenting on his hair and his blood and how gross it is....then he got to kaoru and i wanted to cry! .....then we got a long boring lecture about don't look at guys like them.... ...so mean....
My friends started calling me a weird and said that i like "women"! OMG! til that day, whenever they speak of my j-rockers, they got a lil piece of me! Dun call my boys women!

Well, my dad has no problem with what kind of music do I listen, nor my friends mind. But mostly they say that Jrock bands are gay!! That's what my male friends mostly say at least...

Same with Kinsao. I live apart from my parents, so they hear jrock only whey they came into my flat. They don't share my enthusiasm, by they're trying hard to understand my tastes and I'm very thankful for that, 'cause some of my friends always have troubles with their families.
My mom even tries to listen jrock - just for making own opinion about music I listen. And she liked my fav bands, she discusses music and vocals with me.

Well, my family doesn't seem to mind it. My mom once saw a poster of Gazette, and she asked me which was my favorite member, and when I told her, she said, "Oh, so she's your favorite?" When I told her they were all men, she said, "Those are MEN?!? " She's more used to seeing idol singers (Gackt and Hamasaki Ayumi are plastered on advertisement posters and on television all over Japan.) Though, a few months ago she said, "I like Gazette. Their music's very good."
My little sister doesn't like rock. She likes American music and idol singers like Hamasaki Ayumi and Otsuka Ai. She's always making comments about the way the rockers look, but she did admit she thought Ruki was cute (and I do catch her stealing my j-rock magazines).
My friends have heard of a lot of the artists I listen to. They don't really listen to them, though. Most know about Gackt (a few say their moms have crushes on Gackt!) because he's popular. So they don't say bad things.
Like others here at jref, I don't really advertise to the world the kinds of music I listen to. Even here in Japan, Visual Kei, Gothic Lolita, etc. are thought of as "not normal" or "strange". Really, the only time I see people dressed in those kinds of styles is in certain areas of Tokyo, or music artists getting ready to perform. Anywhere else is really rare.
