I used to buy a sauce at the market where I used to live and I can't find it online anywhere. I believe it was a bonito concentrate. I don't recall the name but it came in a tall plastic bottle, kind of like a water bottle. It was dark brown, had a very intense smoky flavor and had a consistency kind of like ketchup. As I recall it had a orange label and maybe had a drawing of a fish on the side. Does anyone know what this is? I would love to find it online. It wouldn't have to be the same brand but I would like to find the same type of sauce.

Something with bonito would be like hondashi, or maybe men-tsuyu or hon-tsuyu, but those have the viscocity of water... hmm, brown and smoky flavor but consistency like ketchup... tonkatsu sauce, maybe? It's not a bonito concentrate nor is it particularly "fishy," but it looks like it often has an orange label

Most common form I've seen in the US is the Kikkoman variety which looks a little different:

There's also Oyster sauce, but that's more of an ingredient than a sauce that you would put directly on your food

I guess it would be like if you added a bunch of Hondashi to water and then boiled it down until it was super concentrated and thick.

And it definitely would be an ingredient, so I guess my use of the word sauce is misleading.
