Ok, I was talking to my Japanese tutor the other day and I asked her what does the WC stand for that is on some public restroom and on the restroom slippers in Japan. She didn't know. Do any of you know? I figure it is something really obvious that I just can't think of.

I used to wonder why on earth it was called a water closet, then I learned there used to be an "earth closet" as well.
