I went shopping the other day and I noticed something, some of the workers stand there and scream something, what are they saying?

It kinda reminds me of the 2 guys at train stations who just stand there and scream Arigato gozaimasu when you put in your ticket in that machine.

No idea, what you are talking about, any more information?

"Irasshaimase"? Means welcome.
Yes, that's often said when you are entering a shop.
I'd guess there's also something like "Thank you for your purchase, we hope to see you again" when you're leaving.

oh i see, it gets annoying after a while, just the way they scream sounds like there bored to death but I dont blame them.

Does it sond like they scream? Perhaps they are told to do so by thier tops.

Luc, I know what your talking about, most of the time they all say the same thing.. And most of the time they are shouting something around the meaning of...

Can I help you! or Please let us help you!

Okay, now I know what exactly you guys are talking about.
Yes, shop staff or any workers whose Jobs are to contact with customers tend to do just same things over and over again, I sometimes really dislike to get surprised at them speaking loud. I'm like "I can hear you fully, I'm not a deaf person, thank you!"

LOL
It's amazing how Japan fights against unemployement. Those kind of jobs considered totaly useless in some other countries (e.g France) are really good (not for our hears though) to employ students or people who can't find jobs.
I didn't know about people saying Thank you at train station. Maybe it would be less expensive to make the machine say it

Were they really screaming it? I've never heard the "ushers" screaming at the stores, they usually just kinda shout it, and the train station too? Maybe they had too much coffee that morning or something.

they were screaming it, the store had 3 levels and they were at the 3rd and I could hear them on the first when I got in. And they werent saying it at the same time but one after the other so the chant never stoped.

I went to get my hair cut last night and the barbers did the same thing when someone came to there shop or when one of the barbers finished a hair cut. It was kinda kool.

Oh, I came up with a funny memory.

There's a huge department store near my place and one day I went there with my friend. When we left there after shopping, we saw some weird thing.
There is a park near the store and in the park there were many shop staff from that shop shouting" Thank You", "May I help you" and so on.
They were following what the guy who seemed the leader was saying, so after the one guy said something, the rest shouted same thing really really loud. I think there were over 30 people.
