Hi,
Im Onan Farabi from Indonesia. Currently Im 30 Y.O pretty old for a male. I've been adorely japan since I was 14 Y.O. Im studying japanese because of Game. When I was kid, game availability if not on English it is Japanese, sometime when I was not patience enough to wait the english version I goes to the japanese version, I was playing japanese version until Unicode was invented, because after unicode was invented most game using kanji. For your information I only able to read katakana and hiragana. When I was kid all product in here was from japan, china product is not yet popular and japan product not just cheap but also advance, sometime the most advance device is sold on the street, on that age a solar powered calculator is the most advance device and I afford to bough it as a kid. But then the economy crisis hit, I cant even afford to buy japan game anymore and now most goods was from china. Both china and japan is respectable here, but when I was kid on each ceremony people said about how we should follow japan work ethic and told us how smart the japan was, now it switch to china.
When I was teenage I really hate school, Im bad at remembering things and I was bad at biology, I know game was not real, and sometime it was based on fantasy, but the story of it make me love science, math and electronic, and even now I was a enterpreneur on web development. I think japan culture on some point is constructive. But here is some critics, when I was kid, pornography is not allowed, I think most japan manga and movie 20 years ago is not as vulgar as the present. Even there is saying, pornography is not eastern culture and it made us proud beeing follow japan culture. But hey, now everything is upside down, I the one who raised not watching pornography is labeled as old timer geezer who are not modern, even everybody looking at us as weird, but I guess if you born at 1980 you had mostly the same view as me.
My favorite movie is Gundam 00. It has an awesome story. But I think most game and japan manga is interesting for me, it taugh me about friendship, and good ethic we have to follow and it made me respect the japan people well.
I think that is what I want to say. Mostly, I had respect for any advance country like japan and most western country. Even though my view is different even contradictive, your science based view win my heart.
