I suggest you don't use more than 26 characters of Japanese text in a row.
(e.g. this long
1234567890123456780123456
and no longer).

If you do have more than 26 Japanese characters in a line it will add a space to break them up. That isn't a problem in itself, but if you've mixed in any Western characters then it will 'split' a Japanese character and you'll get a bit of mojibake.

Also I've found that the 'a' and 'ku' hiragana characters don't display properly if entered in Shift-JIS. For the mean time it's probably best to stick to entering text in Western European encoding (if that works on your system).
