I'm going to Japan for the Obon Festival. I just wanted a few good gift ideas. I know that regional gifts are always a good idea, but I'm from Maryland. The area I'm from makes candies, unfortunately I'm unsure as to what kinds of candies to give (for their tastes) and they already have lots of chocolates. Does anyone have any other suggestions for gift ideas for relatives?

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you!

I always find a good gift is something like a postcard or a small package of assorted American things. Like a postcard from where you live, some regional candy, maybe small trinkets like key chains. Also many of my Japanese friends enjoyed the t-shirts I bought them from my college

I used to buy sea's candy for gift to Japan, but these are available in Japan,too.....

I got American Brand keyholder, which was great last time I went back to japan.
