Very interested in teaching in Japan!

Hi everyone!

I am a 24 year old woman living in D.C. with a bachelors degree from a top-notch American University looking to teach English in Japan. I've read through multiple forums, and I must admit, all of the information is a bit overwhelming. If there is anyone who knows the ins and outs of teaching English in Japan who wouldn't mind emailing with me back & forth about a few specific questions I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. First... what is top-notch? Second, even more importantly, what is your degree in? Third, why do you want to teach in Japan.

Without those answered, I don't think there can be much of a recommendation other than to simply check into the JET program at the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate.

Anyway, email is fine but the people on this forum are quite knowledgeable, so there is no need to hide answers or stick to one source. Feel free to ask your questions here. Without more details and explanation though, we won't be able to guide you anywhere.

No need for the third degree.

All one needs is a bachelor's degree. Top-notch or low-level uni.
Also, the degree major is unimportant. Anything from anthropology to zoology will do.

JET Programme is not the only game in town, either.
