Translation needed for a couple phrases, onegai!

Hey guys, let's say I want to talk to a friend/group of people about Kanji, how do I say the following sentences?

1. let's talk about kanji today/now.
2. kanji originated from China approximately 5000 years ago.
3. There are ______ kanji in total (number of kanji)
4. Only ____ kanji are used in everyday use (number of kanji)
5. There is an alternate way of writing these words


Thanks so much! I'll also say something like "ko re wa ichi ban muzukashi kanji desu" for "this is the hardest kanji" and "ko no kanji wa 15 kaku desu" for "this kanji has 15 strokes". Are they also correct? Thanks a lot!

You wouldn't by chance be like from British Columbia (BC) Canada or anywhere , now would you ? Just wondering, cause that's where all the problem language board members seen to go to get banned. lol. My sympathies to anyone legit from the Beautiful Province...

I'll take a crack at the first two.

Wait for a person better at Japanese to confirm these, and maybe give you the answers to the other ones.

and about those sentences that you are saying, yes they are correct but if you dont already know kore or これ is generally written together instead of "ko re" as you had it. Same goes for kono or この。

No, they are not correct. And this is obviously for a class assignment.

"Help" as in "do it for me" and "a couple of phrases." Give me a break!

If you don't wanna help, fine, step aside but don't prevent others from actually being nice people. Anyways I got it all translated by another forum anyways, and they taught me step by step and word by word what those things mean. So I actually learned something instead of blindly copying and having people do it for me.

See? It wasn't that hard was it? You'll be amazed how nice a person you can be by just putting down your cockiness a bit sometimes.

Elizabeth-san is annoyed because this forum isnt really for doing other people's homework for them. If you've found a forum that will go through with you step by step on each sentence then by all means...

Bonehelm, if you found a forum with members that answered your questions with no questions asked, more power to you, but you'd be better off not biting the hands that feed you. Elizabeth is one of the most generous members here in terms of helping out with Japanese language related questions, so she is not someone to get on her bad side with.

I don't know whether your OP refers to a school assignment or not, but the simple fact that you did not even offer an attempt to do it yourself shows a lack of respect for the people you are asking "help" from.

Elizabeth is perfectly correct. We at Jref offer help, but we do not offer hand outs.

Without getting into details, I will close this thread because it looks suspiciously like the OP is looking for someone to do his work for him, and getting such "help" completely undermines the point of a language course.

I will let the other thread stay open at this point, but only because the OP seems to have made a sincere effort to make a speech in Japanese on his own. How other members decide to respond is up to them.
