Translation for a kiridashi knife inscription

i found this knife at a second hand store and had never seen anything like it, so I'm learning! thus far, i've learned that it is a Japanese-styled kiridashi.

apparently these are wonderfully hardy knives which excel at gardening, cord cutting, leather working or wood working. ridiculously useful and i had no idea. 🙂:

i have yet to find out who made it, unfortunately, and i have no idea what the metal is. I'm hoping the inscription on it might shed some light! if anyone is kind enough to help translate, I'd be very grateful. I'm so sorry these photos aren't the right way around!
