It really depends on qualifications. For someone without any type of certification (such as a BA/MA in translation, ATA/JAT accreditation, etc.), and for non-technical material, it can be as low as 6-8 cents/word. I doubt you will find someone willing to pay much more than 9-10 cents a word for newspaper translation, particularly entertainment, regardless of qualification.
