Tokyo youth hostels ? ok?

hey, im planning on staying in a youth hostel in tokyo, just wondering has anyone stayed in one of these. And what are there reputations ! im not bothered abut lush and fancy place to just sleep, ill be out in tokyo most of the time.
I have youth membership so i wud be able to stay !

this is the place im looking at Home

Its cheap and looks like a nice place. Seems a decent place, not far from town ! any one had any experiences !

i stayed there three times (so far) -- my first time was my first trip, so i have really fond memories -- of being chased out of the tv room by the guard for watching tv after curfew
it's a bit of a hassle to get to sangubashi station, and from there to the youth hostel, one has to cross over a huge walkway. i will try to write precise directions later
far from town? that's the heart of tokyo happenings imo
yoyogi park (meiji-jingu shrine), shibuya, shinjuku, harajuku, and aoyama are all within easy walking distance (no need to run for trains @ 11:30)...

the way that the lady in orange is walking is the direction desired 窶 can walk the other way (the people in gray at the end), and take a right, and another right -- but I don窶冲 remember if the youth hostel signs are posted in that direction

excellent! the best, imo... but i don't know if they will talk much...

it was for me, and i feel like god blessed me to find such a good deal, without even having the good sense to reserve in advance...

i've stayed there too, i also recommend it highly. i think it was one of the few places you could get back in (through a different gate) after curfew, and one of the very few places you'll be able to get a private room. but it was a PAIN to find, the first time! we took the wrong train line and walked all the way across yoyogi park.

the only thing i didn't like was you could only take baths/shower at night. :/ but i am probably pickier about that than most other people (i like to shower in the morning ).

yes! that's why i entertained the idea of telling him to come out of harajuku station in front of the snoopy

Must be a pretty popular youth hostel, that's where I was stayed for 3 days too! I never knew about the other gate though, my teacher told us if we weren't back by curfew there was no getting in. If I'd known about that I would've partied all night It was great though, couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Youth Hostel, of which basic concept is to provide lodging place for anyone who wants to enjoy safe, pleasant and economical traveling, now extends its network by covering 80 countries all over the world with 5,500 hostels. In Japan, approximately 350 facilities are scattered throughout the country from Hokkaido to Okinawa , offering accommodation at very reasonable overnight fee of about 3,000 yen per night (around 5,000 yen on half-board basis).

not me, due to the hassles of being a foreign person -- they won't let foreign people stay without a booking agency -- according to the manager ishiroshi yuko

so i gave up and just stay at hotel fukudaya -- please don't any bad/rotten foreign people stay with them and mess that up for us also!
