Tokyo ryokan and night owls

On my last visit i was hoping to stay in a ryokan but eventuallyp opted for a 'western style' hotel room.
I would love to stay at a ryokan for a more japanese experience but couldn't find any near shibuya or shinjuku and was worried about being stranded when the trains stopped running.
I wasn't sure if it was acceptable in places like this to roll up at 6 in the morning after a nights clubbing or a night in a manga cafe. Granted tokyo ryokan are not as traditional as those outside but would there be issues in arriving early hours and sleeping till noon??

A lot of ryokans have curfews where the doors are locked (most about midnight). If you should wander in at 6:00 am, it should be no problem.

I'm sorry that I can't recommned anywhere - I stayed in a modern hotel for the same reasons.

Have you thought about just have a couple of nights in a Ryokan (and lay off the latenight activities for those days) and then move from there to a non-curfew hotel and stay up as late as you want?

Doubtful. If you need to get in early in the morning and sleep to noon, it is best to let the front desk know ahead of time so the maid doesn't interrupt you to clean the room.

On my first trip to Japan, I came down with the flu a few days into the trip and I was staying at a ryokan. I felt too ill one day to do anything but sleep, so I let them know and they left me alone. Actually, they were helpful and got me extra hot water for tea and some good miso soup. Luckily, it was a brief flu but that futon was sure comfy!

well i woas only there for 3 nights last time, but worth keeping in mind if i stay longer. Especially as the ryokan are mostly across town from shibuya so i can visit the places that side of tokyo without the crosstown train ride.
