Self-sponsorship of a work visa is not that simple. You have to have a year of work already performed on that visa before you can change sponsorship from one employer to yourself. If you are just starting out here, self-sponsorship is not possible. You can self-sponsor yourself if you have the money to show (about Y2M for a year's study) and if you have a stable job.
I mean you can be your own financial sponsor for the pre-college visa. Not a work visa. Like, in your country, you have a stable job and savings. The applicant needs to present a bank balance certificate of his savings, income tax, etc to prove that he can pay the tuition and his living expenses in Japan without having a full-time work in Japan. There are cases like that.Self-sponsorship of a work visa is not that simple. I went to tokyo last year and studied at this school: tcc-ji.com
It was pretty painless, I just filled out their application form and then they applied for and sent me the certificate of eligibility which I took to the embassy to get a student visa.
I didn't have to find a guarantor in Japan
I don't know if it's accredited though. Didn't ask
The tuition info is on the application pageI had browse to the sites you mention it before.
I am looking for tuition fee and accommodation. Student visa? so, I can take arubaito right?
:?
and yep..there are 2 types of guarantor, self payment this one you must provide your own fee.To be eligible you show bank account balance, the problem is how much do I must have in my bank account to be eligible?
The tuition info is on the application page
it´s like 600k per year I think
I stayed in their dormitory it was around 30.000\ a month (depending on utility fees each month sometimes less, sometimes more)
But it was a really small space, there were 3 of us in the apartment. Was fun, but not much space![]()
Well it was incredibly fun living in Tokyo.I was looking at TCC, and it is surprisingly affordable! Is this a dream?
$6,000USD a year, roughly, for tuition. Plus $260-450USD for dormitory life? I am OKAY WITH THAT!!
If you wouldn't mind sharing some of your experiences Aptiva, that would be wonderful. =)
I am anxious to know whether or not you had a good time, a high quality of education.
Why did you only stay for a year when the full program is two years long?
Neko, what type of Japanese college are you looking for? For awhile I was focusing on American colleges in Japan, since I very much like the American higher education system.
Are you planning on attending a Japanese university once you are finished at a college?
Well it was incredibly fun living in Tokyo.
I wasn't the best student (I came to have fun, not study all day^^) but I went from not even knowing kana to being able to have conversation in japanese.
The dorm I stayed in was located in Nishi ochiai, it's a residential neighbourhood in shinjuku, it was a great location. 20 minutes by train to shinjuku station, 20 minutes by bus to Ikebukuro and ~10 minutes by bus to nakano station. And about 10 minutes walk to school.
They have some other dorms but it seemed they put all the westerners in this one ( there were 3 of us in school dorms, 2 more who lived on their own)
The school is almost entirely koreans and chinese, so they go through kanji pretty fast, you can keep up with it if you work hard (my roommate did) but I didn't have time, so they put me and a couple of other non kanji readers in a special class where we went through kanji at a slower pace.
I only stayed 8 months because I broke my collar bone doing judo => couldn't work for a couple of months and ran out of money -_-
I'm applying for a monbugakusho scholarship (Have my exam on monday actually^^)
Basically the minute I landed back in Iceland I started looking for a way to get to Japan again.
If you can go, go. it's ******* awesome
Lemme know if ya have any questions![]()

wow...6000USD/year..?
including dorm or not?
thats the cheapest tuition fee I have ever met so far.![]()
![]()
but, do you can get arubaito? I am a little bit interested, but I am not sure I have that much money to pay all fee in the first place. So, I start to think to find arubaito, to cover my expenses.
6000USD that would be about 60 million Indonesian Rupiahs, exclude ticket, visa, and transport from airport to school or dorm.hahaha....
Even I think to pay half first and then I looking for job, and I pay the other half fee by my salary..![]()
![]()
is it possible?
hahahaha....
Yeah, I broke it at judo practice. But no as I said to Luke, everyone can get permission to work part time with schoolI'm so glad to hear that you had a good experience! I've been concerned about choosing a school in Japan - especially for fear that a cheap school might offer a poor experience, or education. I'll surely have more questions for you down the road, if you don't mind.
Thank you so much for commenting! *pleased*
-By the way, I noticed you said you couldn't work because you broke your collar bone. Were you part of a special program? I've read that a working visa is near impossible to get for Japan - unless you have a bachelor's degree and real skills to offer. Maybe you do?![]()
Good luck on your exam!! ^^ I've looked into monbukagakusho myself. I'm sure you'll do wonderfully! Be sure to let us know all about your experience with it!![]()
You'd come to japan on a student visa, and then you need to apply for permission to do baito (part time work), up to 4hours a day I think.
The school does that for you. I wasn't even planning to do baito but they told me they'd apply for me anyway just in case I changed my mind.
I ended up working, but remotely for a company back in Iceland, so the government didn't know about it, but.. I guess having the permission was good anyway
What I did was to pay the entire tuition in advance(the icelandic krona was so strong at the time that it was insanely cheap ...not so anymore ;_; ) but when I got into some money trouble they refunded me my last 3 months and I paid them back once I had
a part time job and everything going.
The chinese kids were mostly doing arubaito and paying it as they went along, but they seemed like they were always working
however if you want to pay for tuition, rent and food all with baito money, prepare to work your *** off
Also if you want baito I'm pretty sure you'll need some japanese skills already, you can't work in a bar/store etc unless you can have the necessary conversation to do the job

I'll post some thread on the monbugakusho sometime(there's a lack of senmon gakko scholarship info^^)
