I just noticed the topmost posts have included in them advertisements for Tokyo Info. At first I thought it was something the poster had included in the post but I managed to figure out that JREF is placing them there.

Is inside the posts really a good place to position advertising? Some posters might get the idea it is alright to include their own advertising links inside posts. It is also possible that some will mistakenly think the poster chose and approves of the nature of what is being advertised, when in fact there may be certain ads that the poster may find objectionable and not wish to be associated with.

It's common practice on lots of online fora, Mike and actually quite effective as an ad position. As for the nature of the ads: they are contextual and taken from Google"s Adsense pool of advertisers, so pleas of Liberian ex-dictators' wives, enlargement drugs and herbal you-know-what will not be displayed.

They're very contextual and scarily aware. They knew that I'm overweight so they displayed weight loss (exercise tips) ads for my post opening this thread. I have enough sense of humor to laugh at that.

I just don't think the ads belong inside the box containing individual posts is all I'm saying here. Thanks for letting me express my opinion on it and for your response.

And I do appreciate your feedback, Mike. Ideally, our website would not endorse any other than our own pages, but the goal of financial sustainability requires certain concessions to commercialism. We shall try to keep those at a level not too intrusive.

Oh, and I get those weight loss ads, too.
