Hello,

I am coming to Japan from the 18th of december until the 11th of january

I will be in Hakodate, then Aomori, then Tokyo.

I like Hiking and would like to do some. I have some plans for some to do in each place, but if anyone has any good hike suggestions to do around this time, I would love to hear them.

For Aomori and Hakodate, will any extra equipment (i.e. snow shoes etc) be needed for hikes?

Also, We are not sure whether we should hire a car or not in Aomori - I would like to go to Mt Osore, yagen valley, hakkoda mountains. Is this possible with a car (or public transport?) in late december?

I would also like to see some live music if possible - are there any heavy metal venues at any of this cities that are worth visiting?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help. I really appreciate it!

Can't wait to come to japan again!!!

If you're not used to hiking/driving on snow/ice, you shouldn't try it unless you have someone experienced with you. As for hiking, I think you wil need at least waterproof boots.

I did not have been to Tohoku and Hokkaido of the winter.
When I went to Mt. Hakkoda-san for the Golden Week of May, snow more than 2 meters was surprised to be piled up on both sides of the road.
Mt. Osore-zan is closed from November to April,

There is a bus from JR Aomori Station to Hakkoda-san Ski resort.

It is one hour from JR Aomori Station.
The fare is 1,070 yen.
Mt. Hakkoda-san of the cold winter.

Mt. Hakkoda-san of the winter is very dangerous,
Please prepare for enough winter mountain mountain climbing equipment.
You must pay the help expense if you meet an accident at a mountain.
It takes it more than millions of yen.
