Can anyone please recommend a hotel in Tokyo central to everything for 6 nights accommodation from 4th Dec to 10th Dec. Budget is roughly USD140-180 per night. We'd prefer a westernised hotel but we'd like it in a nice busy area of town. I've done a bit of research and Shinjuku looks like the sort of place we're looking for. Any help is appreciated.

p.s is there any other area apart from Shinjuku which is very central and easy with trains that you can recommend for me?

Also if we are arriving in Osaka but planning to spend our entire trip in Tokyo and make our way back up to Osaka on the last day to fly back home is it worthwhile buying the full JR rail pass for travel within Tokyo?

thanks heaps

I've stayed at the Hotel Asia Center of Japan which is pretty central near the Aoyama-Ichome station (Ginza Line, et al.). The are roughly $60/night for a single. Nice rooms and they have their own restaurant. They are reasonably close to Shinjuku, Ginza, Roppongi and Shibuya by subway.

Hi my understanding is that the trip Osaka_Tokyo-Osaka is more than sufficient reason to get the JR Pass, as well then you can use it on the Yamanote Line in Tokyo, and pretty much hardly need subways: don't need Green Car Pass though, only Ordinary, or so my research tells me (haven't actually been myself yet!!!) Hope this helps
Also, We have been recommended to Shinagawa Prince Hotel , and Aussie travel agents ca get some pretty good deals (we are paying $200 AUS a night for a double/twin) cos its on the Yamanote AND Shinkansen lines at Shinagawa Station, but don't think there is much to do at Shinagawa itself
Have a great time

Toyoko Inn and Apa Hotel are budget hotel groups.

Toyoko Inn Shinagaw-eki Takanawa-guchi cost you just 90AUD for a double room.

When you stay in Shinagawa Prince Hotel or Toyoko Inn, go to a bit small ramen noodle complex, Shinatatsu, with seven different ramen noodle restaurants when you do not have any food restrictions.
It is situated across Shinagawa Prince hotel and under the train station.
