Time To Move On

Well, it was a nice time, for a while. In recent months this nice time has become more & more of a nuisance, though. For a few weeks now I've thought about leaving. The events of the last week then led me to a final decision.

Since I don't have the time or the nerve to continue in an atmosphere as has developed, I decided that it's time to move on. Or better, to put my efforts in my own stuff rather than trying to go on here & perhaps be exhausted by ongoing struggles behind the scenes. I can be rather unforgiving & therefore don't see much of a future here for me.

Jref was a nice place, it partially still is & it may become a completely nice place again, yet without me. Sorry for all open discussions I leave behind, but I'll probably be forgotten sooner than later. I wish you all interesting times & discussions here.

No need to bother replying here, for I probably won't come here again. If you are interested in China, you can check out my own forum. That's where I'll hang out.
Actually, it's not supposed to be open to the public yet, but it's fully functional (though some parts, esp. in Chinese, still need some work) & you can register & post there.

I didn't always agree with you, and I didn't post much in response to you, but I always did respect you. It's sad to see you go.

Regarding the "back story" to your departure...

I doubt I am the only one who has noticed certain...fissures...evolving here. I think that is very unfortunate. Without naming names, I think that all the disputes between and among the higher ups should not be put out in the open for all of us to see. It only works to bring down the general atmosphere of the forum and reduce morale.

And it accomplishes little else.

I'm really sorry to see Bossel go. He was one of the very first people I got to know on the forum. I remember Sabro and me 'ganging up' on him way back about whether race was a real scientific concept - remember that Sabro? What I like about him is that he is willing to listen and read up if a good case is presented against his views. Even though he still disagreed with us, he was willing to consider our opinions and he understood how we had come to different conclusions to him. I really respect that. I will miss Spock too.

The only Chinese I come across regularly is in restaurants but if there is ever something written I'm not quite sure of based on Japanese I'll be sure to stop by and ask everyone to point out the phrase. It looks like it will be a great site -- lots of information in a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere.
