Hah, nice. But surely they're not the only shop that has this problem? What about the other shops in the immediate vicinity - I can't imagine all of them switching off their signs.

Being a shop that cooks the bento on the premises and having a very small waiting area and a busy/crowded kitchen, insects getting inside could quickly become a big problem.

I would leave the signage turned on and install a couple of 業務用 bug zappers near the entrance. But I suppose a handwritten note by the door is just as effective and a whole lot cheaper.

Perhaps.

I think that sort of shop has mostly regular (repeat) customers who know their business hours, so they probably lose very little business by having the signs turned off.
