Is there any other way to copy the whole edited post before submitting it to avoid this problem?

How long is the time limit? I've never hit it before.

By default, the cookie session time is set to 60 minutes. If he needs more time to write up his post I'd recommend to draft it in Notepad.

It may depend on your browser, but I've sometimes recovered such "lost" material by simply hitting the back button.
