Signature Limits

I am new here....how many post to show signature links?

I don't think there is a restriction on having a link in your signature.

If there is a restriction, I think it would be set at 25 posts.

Actually, the images are stored off-line at some sort of hosting facility, so, it doesn't really effect J-Ref's storage space, (unlike uploaded images), but nonetheless you bring up a very good point about bandwidth...

The more images and text that J-Ref has to serve, the more it costs the operators of the site... And of course, we are lucky, this is a free server, but at the end of the day, someone has to pay the bills.

The least we can do is to follow the rules, and keep the prices down for the operators.

Someone revived this thread today and I read it for the first time.

In the interest of fairness, I'd like to point out that signature images don't use the diskspace or bandwidth of JREF servers. Both of those burdens are borne by whatever site is hosting the images. However, large images do result in longer loading times on the user side and higher bandwidth usage for the users (though that second part is usually not an issue).

But I'm glad we have signature restrictions. Rock on.

You're absolutely right. I completely forgot about the effects of remote-linking... Something you can avoid by using sites like imageshack.

(And if you're posting images, you should be doing this).

I just noticed that my signature stopped showing up in all my posts.

Is there something wrong with it? I think it does comply with the rules... And if I check my profile, it is there, too...

Any hint?

Officially your signature will only show up in once on each page. Otherwise we would have 30 signatures a page with an average heigh of 100px. That's why it will only be on 1 page each...That's for everyone....
(but so now and again they do show up a more than 1 time a page... why? ... I don't know.

If you edit a post, the sig seems to reappear.
