The year is almost at an end. We've witnessed towns be consumed by the sea. We've lost great men of science, literature, and so on. A reviled dictator breathed his last this year. I've lost people too this year. My grandmother & cousin, both gone too soon, although I had the opportunity to see the latter, as he visited just a few days before he died in a car accident. The Middle East has seen a proverbial spring & is still fighting for it, which makes my heart swell with pride. I look to my Saudi Arabian nephew and nieces, and I have hope that the culture of their father won't be as oppressive as it was when they were born. The good news for myself though is that I finally got another job. I was in such great despair after I had been laid off from my last one. I honestly thought that I would never get a job in the foreseeable future considering how hard I was working to sell myself to prospective employers and having it dashed back in my face. And, finally, I got another job! A new year's resolution fulfilled for the first time in my life! It was great. I'm still so happy about it.

And now the year 2012 is upon us, and you know what? 2011, despite all the tragedy & greatness that touched us all, was a good year. The tragedy made us stronger, and the greatness inspired us all at least a little bit to make something better of ourselves. And here's to all the JREF members, past and present, have a good year 2012, and keep coming back! Share with us any fulfilled new year resolutions or anything of importance to you that you'd like share. <3

Thank you for your thread Thor!

2012 will be an interesting year for my family because the kids will start school, my wife will start working again, and I will start my internship from May where I hope to stay after the internship as well!

For my new years resolutions, you can just search for Bryan Tracy and you will find lots of my new years resolutions :D.

1. JLPT N2
2. spend less money, so that I can save more money
3. not just to try, but to DO things.

It's the new year! We are officially hours into 2012! Exciting year ahead of us. I can't wait to experience in. On a side note though, I got a little emotional last night when the clock struck midnight at work. I had been reflecting on the past year since I woke up, and you know what? 2011 was a turbulent year for us all in so many ways. And we got through it. I'm personally proud of myself. As always, when crap hits the fan for us, we shudder at the aftermath and soldier on, but my god. 2011 is a year I will personally not forget for quite awhile.

Thanks for experiencing it with me, everyone! Here's to 2012!
