hello guyz. i think this is my first post as a returnee. it was a long long time since my last post to the point that i need to create a new account coz i cant remember my username and my password for that matter. anyhow, i have a favor to ask to my fellow friends here.

i passed JLPT level 3 recently, so i do have a little knowledge about nihongo. But i still need some of your help coz maybe my translation (in my mind) is not accurate.

i hope i converted the kanji's properly into their hiragana form.....actually, i am applying for a job and this was their reply. the content in the email said that even japanese college graduate find it hard to look for a job...etc etc....in one of their sentneces, i thought they were saying that i need to pass another exam or level, am irght or wrong? can someone please explain some 3 to 4 sentences from the last part? im having a difficult time connecting the thoughts, so im a little confused on what they are trying to say...are they refusing my application but not in a direct way?? thats why im confused...pleasee advise...thank you.

You're having problems understanding because a letter of refusal is usually very polite and indirect--something that happens in English, too.

What this person writes is very true. Jobs are scarce, and a lot of Japanese fresh out of university can't find jobs. Tougher still for high school graduates. With the intense competition for jobs, employers aren't going to choose a foreign national over a Japanese who understands the language and culture natively. If you want to be hired in Japan, you need something exceptional you can offer employers--outstanding skill in some field (engineering in your case, I assume) and near-native competence in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking and listening).

oh thank you so much for the reply. so my interpretation of the message was almost correct. i do have a feeling that he wanted me to pass another level for proficiency.....or something like that thought. oh i see, at least my feeling was confirmed.

Isn't 励まれることを願って a lot more common for this ?

よう is appropriate and actually often used in those formal documents; ご配慮賜りますよう、宜しくお願い申し上げます or like that.

OK, thanks. Another formality thing. Yeah, I don't have a good example handy but it's all the time in the paper as よう努力 or something. So I knew it was appropriate, just not so common with 願って ....
