I own a sword which has ww2 military handle and sheath, the blade I think is older, and has two markings which are enclosed. Could anyone give me a nudge in the right direction.

Would be better to see the actual markings on the sword. Something is getting lost in the transmission. But basically

昭和十囗年囗月囗
吉久

Showa ? year ? month
Yoshihisa

Probably the smith whose real name was Kawamura Hisayoshi. It would be a wartime blade made between 1937 and 1945

昭和十七年囗月日
Shōwa 17 (or, 1942)

I'm at a loss as to the month. Even with the new photos, the month remains a mystery. Could be 十月 (October) but the horizontal stroke is missing (or its been struck too closely to the 年 kanji). Anyway, that would be my guess, October 1947.
