Spousal working visa advice please

Hi, Looking for advice.

My company will be sending me to Japan to work for a few years.
The company is processing my visa paperwork.
I'm a US citizen and my wife is an Aussie.

My wife will be coming with me and I'm wondering if there is a way to get her a working visa, so that she can work at least part time? and is it possible to get all of this prepared before entering Japan?

I know she can get a spousal visa (non-working) and I've read aruto david's forum boards, but most seem to be related to one spouse who is Japanese or both spouses who are already residing in Japan.

I believe she will be on a "dependent" visa, not a "spouse" visa. (She is the dependent of someone coming to Japan temporarily on some other visa category, which is the justification for the visa issuance. People here on spouse visas have being married to Japanese (or permanent residents) as their justification for issuance).

So as a dependent visa holder, she will not be eligible to work? I take it she won't be. Wondering if there is a category of visa she can get from my company which will allow her to work at least part time.

Yeah, hard to read when it's the first thing in the post. Not quite as hard as Googling authoritative information from the Immigration website for yourself instead of having strangers do it for you, but still hard.

Visa questions are the single most pointless wastes of time we do here, and the people who post them are the greatest proofs one could ask for of the old expression, "You just can't help some people."
