Sony Network Help!

I got a Sony HDD rdz-d700 DVD player for my Bravia TV. I got the network cable going into my router. How do I get my desktop PC to see the HDD in the dvd player so i can transfer music, videos and whatnot? Anyone know how to do this? Thx ,

Knowing nothing about this particular model, I would venture a guess that it would act like any other networked storage device. Did you turn the box upside-down and shake it a few times? The book that falls out is called a manual.

The manual mentions how to hook it up to your router but does not mention how to set it up as a network storage device. I'm not quite sure how to do that. I used the windows home network wizard but it doesnt show up as a drive anywhere on my network.

are you certain the device supports this feature? Puzzling that it would have a network interface and no support as a network drive, but that wouldn't surprise me, coming from a Sony product.

yeah seeing how its Sony it might be that way. It has a network cable i beleive for updates and ads it sometimes puts up on the tv guide. There is also a phone line i believe for cable and satillite and to update the tv guide. No I'm not certain but I've checked thier manual and japanese website but nothing about seeing it on ur PC. I think i might have to burn the videos on to a dvd-rw and then transfer it to the hard via the dvd-rw. I have to do that with my new au sony walkman keitai. A bit of a pain in the butt but good technology.

So TIVO has software for thier TIVO player to connect via the network router and TIVO also has a network cable going out of it to the router. The software basically makes a shared folder on the TIVO box that the PC can share and transfer data back and forth from. When I hook up my PSP to my computer I can see the sony made folders as well. So does sony make the software to connect to the HDD on the DVD Recorder? If not, do u know of anyone who has made software to access the hdd? My Japanese is ok but not well enough to search for it on blogs/forums.
